The Tenth BRICS Industry Ministers' Meeting concluded successfully in Jaipur, Rajasthan, under India's BRICS Chairship 2026. The meeting brought together Industry Ministers and senior representatives from BRICS member countries to culminate ministerial engagement under the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR). The declaration focuses on advancing industrial growth through enhanced cooperation on MSMEs, photovoltaics, startups, and logistics. Specifically, the Framework on Cooperation in SME Working Group was promoted to boost MSME ecosystems, while Terms of Reference and Action Plan were adopted for the BRICS Working Group on the Photovoltaic Industry, establishing a structured framework for cooperation in the sector.
India's Proposals and Initiatives
India proposed the BRICS Incubator Network and BRICS Startup Innovation Fund to support innovation-led growth among member nations. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal emphasized that BRICS countries must leverage their complementary strengths to build resilient industries, noting that PartNIR has evolved into the principal mechanism for this collaboration. The 16th BRICS Trade Ministers' Meeting will be held in Jaipur on August 7, 2026, under India's Chairship, following the Third Meeting of the BRICS Contact Group on Economic and Trade Issues held on August 3-4, 2026, in New Delhi. The Trade Ministers' Meeting will be chaired by Shri Piyush Goyal and attended by Shri Jitin Prasada and Commerce Secretary Shri Rajesh Agrawal. Discussions will focus on strengthening the multilateral trading system, enhancing MSME participation in international trade, fostering resilient global value chains, and facilitating cross-border digitally delivered services.
