C-DOT Unveils 14 Indigenous Quantum Security Products

The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the premier telecom R&D centre of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India, unveiled 14 indigenous quantum products during its 43rd Foundation Day celebrations in New Delhi on August 31, 2026. The products were developed in the areas of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) to strengthen the security of India's communication networks in the quantum era.

Product Portfolio Details

The comprehensive product series includes Q-AKSHAY CD, a compact 1U size fiber-based QKD system using Coherent One Way and Differential Phase Shift protocols for secure quantum key generation over fiber networks. Q-AKSHAY MD represents a next-generation fiber-based QKD system using Measurement Device Independent protocol offering enhanced security against measurement device vulnerabilities. Critical sub-modules include C-SPD (Single-Photon Detector) and C-RD (wideband RF driver) for quantum communication systems.

The quantum-safe encryptors span multiple performance categories: Q-SETU secures Layer 3 communications with 80 Mbps throughput using NIST PQC algorithms; Q-MAHASETU supports Layer 2/3 networks with 40 Gbps throughput for enterprise and critical networks; Q-VIKRAM provides 1 Gbps throughput for Layer 2/3 networks for sensitive communications; and Q-AMOGH delivers 200 Gbps throughput at Layer 1 for high-capacity optical links. All incorporate NIST Post-Quantum Cryptography algorithms.

Specialized solutions include Q-DARSHAN quantum-safe video IP phone for protected voice and video communications; Q-VACHAN quantum-safe in-line node for upgrading existing IP phones; Q-RAQSHAK enterprise network solution for protecting enterprise communications; Q-VAAYU wireless point-to-point network solution for securing wireless links; Q-VAJRA1000 access node supporting GPON and wireless radios for network upgrades; and Q-PARAKRAM defense-grade encryptor providing 1 Gbps throughput with NIST PQC and proprietary algorithms for strategic defense communications.

Strategic Significance and Development Context

The Quantum Product Series combines QKD technologies and PQC-based solutions to enable secure quantum key generation and distribution, designed to protect communications against threats posed by future quantum computers. These products cater to enterprise, telecom, wireless, optical, strategic and defense applications, addressing emerging cybersecurity challenges associated with quantum computing advent. The products reflect C-DOT's focus on translating indigenous research and innovation into deployable solutions for securing India's communication infrastructure.

A Quantum Product Series booklet consolidating C-DOT's indigenous quantum solutions was also launched during the event, highlighting the organization's work in QKD and PQC and its efforts toward developing secure, resilient and future-ready communication technologies. The unveiling ceremony was attended by Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Hon'ble Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region; Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Hon'ble Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development; Shri Amit Agrawal, IAS, Secretary (Telecom) and Chairman, Digital Communications Commission; Shri Sanjeev Gupta, Advisor Operations; and Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO, C-DOT.
