The Union Cabinet approved the Modified UDAN regional connectivity scheme with a total outlay of Rs. 28,840 crore for a 10-year period from FY 2026-27.
The scheme includes development of 100 airports, 200 modern helipads, and viability gap funding for airlines, with a focus on underserved regions.
The original UDAN scheme, launched in 2016, has operationalized 663 routes across 95 airports, carrying over 162 lakh passengers.
