Chief Election Commissioner of India Shri Gyanesh Kumar is undertaking a three-day official visit to the Kingdom of Bhutan from September 14 to 16, 2026. The visit includes several high-level engagements, beginning with a meeting with His Majesty the King of Bhutan in Thimphu on September 14. A key event of the visit will be the celebration of Bhutan's National Voters' Day at the Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law in Paro on September 15, where the CEC will serve as Chief Guest. On September 16, Shri Kumar will call on Dasho Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of Bhutan, in Thimphu and hold an interaction with senior civil servants of Bhutan. The visit is designed to strengthen the close institutional cooperation between the Election Commission of India and the Election Commission of Bhutan, building on their continued engagement.
