The Central Information Commission (CIC) observed Hindi Pakhwada 2026 from September 14 to September 28, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote the use of Hindi in official work in accordance with the Official Languages Act, 1963. The event featured a series of competitions including Essay Writing and Extempore Poetry on September 15 covering topics such as Hindi language and national unity, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Nepal tragedy, BRICS Summit impact, and ethical dilemmas of artificial intelligence. Additional activities included Hindi Noting and Drafting on September 17, Translation on September 18, Quiz on September 21, Extempore Speech on September 23, and a Debate on September 25 on the topic "Artificial Intelligence: A means of employment generation or cause of unemployment."
The competitions attracted approximately 120 employees across different positions, with special encouragement for non-Hindi speaking staff to participate. During the Pakhwada period, officials were encouraged to process official files and documents in Hindi to the maximum extent possible.
A Prize Distribution Ceremony was held on September 30, 2026, at the CIC Seminar Hall in New Delhi, presided over by the Chief Information Commissioner and attended by senior officers and staff. Winners of the various competitions received cash prizes and Certificates of Appreciation (Prashasti Patra) in recognition of their participation and performance.
