The CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) has implemented SARAL AI, an initiative of Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), to convert research published in its journals into engaging and accessible videos. This effort aligns with the Government's emphasis on adopting emerging technologies for effective science communication, with Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister for Science & Technology, recently encouraging institutes to use SARAL AI.
Under the leadership of Dr. Geetha Vani Rayasam, Director of CSIR-NIScPR, the institute organized a hands-on workshop on SARAL AI with participation from more than 90 participants including journal editors and researchers. The initiative aims to make scientific research easier to discover, understand, and share, particularly among students and the general public, with videos being made available through a dedicated YouTube playlist.
Dr. Shivkumar Kalyanaraman, CEO of ANRF, highlighted SARAL AI as a tool for creating short videos from research papers and encouraged the institute to use it to simplify complex scientific research for public communication. The initiative draws impetus from ANRF's emphasis on promoting wider dissemination of scientific knowledge and making research more accessible to society beyond traditional research papers.
