Union Secretary Naresh Pal Gangwar of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) visited Uttar Pradesh Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Pashu Chikitsa Vigyan Vishwavidyalaya Evam Go Anusandhan Sansthan (DUVASU), Mathura on June 17, 2026. During the visit, the Secretary comprehensively reviewed the university's academic, research, clinical, and livestock development activities, including key facilities such as the Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex (TVCC), Livestock Farm Complex (LFC), various advanced laboratories, and instructional facilities.

A significant focus was placed on the university's specialized Goat Unit, where Secretary Gangwar examined India's pioneering Goat Semen Freezing Facility. He appreciated the university's efforts in genetic improvement, conservation, and dissemination of superior goat germplasm, discussing the vital role such technologies play in enhancing small ruminant productivity and uplifting rural livelihoods.

The Secretary participated in a tree plantation drive on campus under the national campaign 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam', reaffirming the Government of India's commitment to environmental sustainability alongside agricultural development. Gangwar chaired an interactive session at the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Auditorium with faculty members, scientists, students, and researchers, focusing discussions on animal health, dairy development, entrepreneurship, and mapping future growth opportunities in the sector.

In his address, Secretary Gangwar emphasized the critical need for strengthening veterinary infrastructure across the country, particularly modern clinical facilities, diagnostic laboratories, advanced breeding systems, and technology-enabled animal health services. He underscored the pivotal role veterinary institutions play in supporting livestock productivity, disease control, rural prosperity, and ensuring food and nutritional security. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Abhijit Mitra highlighted DUVASU's contributions to research and skill development during the visit, which successfully strengthened collaboration between the university and DAHD, aligning institutional research with national livestock development goals.
