The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) conducted Special Campaign 5.0 focusing on Swachhata and expeditious disposal of pending matters from October 2-31, 2025, with sustained achievements recorded during November 2025 through August 2026. The campaign institutionalized cleanliness initiatives across DBT's divisions, scientific units, and autonomous institutions.
Key achievements included cleanliness drives conducted at 291 sites across DBT and its field formations. The department disposed of 290 public grievances and 25 appeals during the period. Through systematic cleaning and record management initiatives, 29,350 square feet of office space was freed. Revenue generation amounted to ₹38,77,235 through disposal of e-waste, scrap, and unserviceable items.
Specific cleanliness activities were documented across various national institutes: National Institute of Plant Genome Research (back side of green house, January 2026), Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (cleaning of outdoor sites - wastage room, February 2026), National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (balcony cleaning, March 2026), Institute For Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (AC chiller area outdoor, April 2026), National Institute of Immunology (area road towards green house, June 2026), Institute of Bio resources and Sustainable Development (cleaning of common passage, July 2026), and National Brain Research Centre (cleaning of store room, July 2026).
The progress of these activities was regularly reviewed by the Secretary of DBT and the Nodal Officer. The department made efforts to update progress on the SCDPM Portal and ensured saturation of Swachhata in all offices under its administrative control.
