The Ministry of Defence organized a commemorative motorcycle expedition titled 'Shaurya Vijay Yatra' as part of Kargil Vijay Diwas 2026 observances. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh flagged off the expedition on July 14, 2026, from the National War Memorial in New Delhi to the Kargil War Memorial in Dras, Ladakh. The 13-day journey will cover 1,900 kilometers through the demanding terrain of the northern Himalayas with 28 riders comprising serving and retired defence forces personnel and their family members.

The expedition aims to honor the courage, resolve and supreme sacrifice of Indian soldiers who ensured victory in the 1999 Kargil War. The riders will pay homage at prominent military memorials including Chandimandir War Memorial, Rezang La War Memorial and Leh War Memorial. They will also interact with and felicitate Veer Naris during the journey. The expedition will culminate at the Kargil War Memorial on July 26, 2026, which marks Kargil Vijay Diwas.

A significant symbolic element involves riders carrying an urn containing sacred soil from the National War Memorial, which will be offered at Kargil in memory of fallen heroes. The Defence Minister stated that this soil unification would represent "the confluence of the reverence of the nation's current generation and the valour of the nation's heroes." The event was attended by Chief of Defence Staff General NS Raja Subramani, Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth, and other senior officials, with National Cadet Corps cadets also present at the flag-off ceremony.
