The Department of Posts, under the Ministry of Communications, has reported significant progress during the implementation phase of Special Campaign 6.0, which runs from 2nd to 31st October 2026 across postal establishments nationwide. The campaign focuses on institutionalizing Swachhata, reducing pendency, promoting efficient record management, and ensuring responsible e-waste disposal while improving working environments and citizen experience.

As of 16th October 2026, the Department has achieved substantial milestones against its ambitious targets. Cleanliness drives have been conducted at 73,814 sites, representing approximately 55% of the overall target of 135,000 sites. In public grievance redressal, 100,214 grievances have been resolved, achieving about 67% of the 150,000 target. For appeal disposal, 764 appeals have been processed, reaching approximately 51% of the 1,500 target.

The campaign has generated notable revenue through scrap disposal, with 306,026 kg of scrap disposed of since 2nd October 2026, generating revenue of ₹67.56 lakh. In e-waste management, 17,980 kg of e-waste has been disposed of scientifically, generating revenue of ₹27.64 lakh, reflecting the Department's commitment to responsible handling of obsolete electronic equipment.

Innovative initiatives include West Bengal Circle's waste-to-wealth project where departmental carpenters and Multi-Tasking Staff renovated the Senior Manager's Chamber at Mail Motor Service, Kolkata, using recycled wooden scrap. The Department has also introduced DigiPost, a phygital mail service that digitally transmits traffic e-challans issued by Gujarat Police for physical delivery to citizens, demonstrating the postal network's potential for delivering digitally generated citizen services through its extensive physical reach.

The Department continues to intensify efforts during the remaining campaign period to achieve prescribed targets, sustain cleanliness practices, ensure scientific e-waste management, and reinforce commitment to responsive, efficient, and citizen-centric governance.
