DIKSHA (Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing) is India's national digital learning platform launched in 2017 as part of the PM e-Vidya initiative by the Ministry of Education. The platform serves as the nation's 'One Nation, One Digital Platform' for school education, providing curriculum-linked digital learning materials in multiple languages to students and teachers across the country.
The platform operates on a federated architecture that allows decentralized participation with content uploaded and managed independently by participants in regional languages. CIET-NCERT periodically validates all content based on prescribed guidelines to ensure age-appropriate and grade-appropriate quality standards. DIKSHA supports both online and offline accessibility, with states and UTs preloading content on Smart Class boards for dependable offline access.
As of June 27, 2026, the platform has achieved significant scale with 2.25 crore registered users and approximately 3 lakh daily active users. State-wise registration data shows Uttar Pradesh leads with 26.80 lakh users, followed by Maharashtra (10.86 lakh), Gujarat (14.64 lakh), Rajasthan (11.41 lakh), Madhya Pradesh (10.35 lakh), and Bihar (12.52 lakh). The platform has recorded 575.25 crore learning sessions totaling 6,691.82 crore learning minutes.
Content metrics include 7,687 energised textbooks with QR codes linking physical NCERT books to digital resources, and 3.67 lakh electronic contents. The platform offers 347 courses with 18.77 crore enrolments, resulting in 14.82 crore completions and 12.79 crore certificates issued. DIKSHA supports 135 languages including 128 Indian and 7 foreign languages, with NCERT translating textbooks for classes 1, 2, 3, and 6 into 22 scheduled languages.
The platform features advanced learning tools including 614 virtual laboratories, 2D/3D animations, AR experiences, simulations, sign language videos, and inclusive features like DAISY format and text-to-speech. It supports teacher professional development through NISHTHA and state-specific TPD modules, with 50 faculty members trained to develop professional development courses delivered through an integrated Learning Management System.
