The Department of Health & Family Welfare (DoHFW) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is launching Special Campaign 6 from October 2 to 31, 2026, as part of the government's continued focus on institutionalizing Swachhata (cleanliness) and improving efficiency in government functioning. The campaign will focus on effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste, workspace cleanliness, and operational efficiency across its offices and institutions.

A preparatory phase for Special Campaign 6 is underway from September 15 to 30, 2026, during which DoHFW will identify pendency under identified parameters, mobilize ground-level functionaries, finalize sites for cleanliness campaigns, review records, undertake space management planning, and identify scrap material for disposal.

The department has demonstrated significant progress in previous initiatives from November 2025 to August 2026, having reviewed 65,329 files of which 27,531 files were weeded out, contributing to streamlined record management and reduction of accumulated records. During the same period, the department disposed of 47,537 public grievances and 3,635 associated appeals, along with 543 Members of Parliament References, 19 Parliamentary Assurances, and 46 State Government References.

Cleanliness initiatives included 659 cleanliness campaigns conducted across various offices and institutions, resulting in the disposal of scrap material worth ₹21.26 lakh and the freeing up of 24,299 square feet of space. These initiatives have contributed to creating cleaner and healthier workplace environments, improved record management, more effective utilization of available space, and revenue generation through scrap disposal.

The National Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases (NITRD) in New Delhi is specifically mentioned as participating in these initiatives, including a Paper Waste Recycling Initiative (WWWF). DoHFW remains committed to creating cleaner, more efficient, and better-managed government workspaces through sustained efforts during the implementation phase of Special Campaign 6.
