The Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL) under the Union Ministry of Education organized a Swachhata Shramdaan cleanliness drive at a PM SHRI school in New Delhi on October 1, 2026, as part of the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign. The event was led by Secretary T.K. Anil Kumar and conducted under the aegis of Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE, bringing together students, teachers, senior officials, and officers of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS).
The cleanliness drive covered the school campus, an adjoining community space, and the park in front of the school, creating a collective effort between the school and surrounding community to promote cleanliness. Following the Shramdaan, a tree plantation program was conducted under 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0' with student participation to reinforce environmental conservation and sustainable practices messages.
A quiz on Solid Waste Management Rules was organized to strengthen students' understanding of source segregation and responsible waste disposal through interactive learning. The program emphasized the role of schools in fostering clean, sustainable, and environmentally responsible habits among students, encouraging active contribution to cleanliness and environmental conservation.
Senior DoSEL officials participating included Additional Secretary Shri Dheeraj Sahu, Additional Secretary Ms. Archana Sharma Awasthi, Joint Secretary Ms. Prachi Pandey, Joint Secretary Dr. Amarpreet Duggal, Deputy Director General (Statistics) Dr. Pankaj K.P. Shreyaskar, Chief Controller of Accounts Ms. Deepika Jain, and Commissioner of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Shri Vikas Gupta, along with KVS officers. The initiative reinforced the department's commitment to making Swachhata part of everyday life and contributing to the vision of a Swachh and Viksit Bharat.
