The Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications, is organizing an Investors' Meet in Bengaluru on September 21, 2026, under the leadership of Union Minister of Communications Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and Dr. Mohan Yadav, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. The event aims to attract investment for Asia's first Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) being established in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, building on previous successful investor engagements in New Delhi and Mumbai that resulted in investment commitments of ₹5,500 crore with potential to generate nearly 18,000 employment opportunities.
The Bengaluru meet will bring together telecom manufacturers, technology companies, electronics and component manufacturers, investors, and infrastructure providers to explore opportunities for manufacturing, research and development, technology partnerships, and supply-chain integration. A very attractive incentive package has been announced to encourage investment under TMZ, designed with industry inputs to boost India's share in telecom manufacturing.
The Telecom Manufacturing Zone in Gwalior is envisaged as an integrated 170-acre plug-and-play industrial cluster for telecom manufacturing, R&D and innovation, covering mobile devices, optical fibre, telecom equipment and next-generation 5G/6G technologies. The Central Government is providing 100% funding support of ₹493 crore for Phase-I, while the Government of Madhya Pradesh has provided approximately 170 acres of land free of cost along with various investor incentives. A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) has been established with 51% equity from the Government of Madhya Pradesh and 49% from the Department of Telecommunications.
The initiative seeks to advance the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat in telecommunications by strengthening domestic value chains, reducing import dependence, promoting indigenous design and manufacturing, boosting exports, and positioning India as a trusted global hub for telecom products and next-generation technologies. The government aims to transform India from a telecom service provider into a global telecom product manufacturing and innovation hub.
