The Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications, Government of India, and the Government of Madhya Pradesh will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on July 30, 2026, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, for the establishment of India's first Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ), Phase-I, at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. This initiative represents a significant milestone in strengthening India's domestic telecommunications manufacturing ecosystem and advances Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
The TMZ aims to create a world-class manufacturing ecosystem for telecom equipment and allied technologies by attracting investments, fostering innovation, encouraging indigenous design and manufacturing, and accelerating the development of next-generation telecom products and solutions. The zone is expected to serve as a catalyst for the growth of telecom equipment manufacturers, technology companies, MSMEs, start-ups, and other stakeholders across the telecom value chain.
The initiative is projected to generate substantial employment opportunities, enhance regional industrial development, strengthen supply chain resilience, and position India as a global hub for telecom manufacturing and innovation. The MoU signing ceremony will be attended by Union Minister for Communications Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Dr. Mohan Yadav, and Minister of State for Communications Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, along with other distinguished dignitaries and senior officials from both governments and the telecommunications sector.
