The Office of the Principal Controller of Communication Accounts (Pr. CCA), Delhi, under the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, celebrated National Senior Citizens Day on August 21, 2026, at Sanchar Lekha Bhawan, Prasad Nagar, New Delhi. The event was chaired by Ms. Vandana Gupta, Controller General of Communication Accounts (CGCA), and organized for pensioners of the Department to acknowledge their contributions to the nation.
The centerpiece was a felicitation ceremony honoring senior pensioners, including several nonagenarians. The eldest pensioner honored was Shri Parshuram Sharma, aged 99 years, who retired from the Department of Telecommunications in 1987. Ms. Gupta emphasized the department's ongoing duty to ensure timely pension payments and care for retired employees.
A health check-up camp provided on-site basic health checks, Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT), and eye examinations conducted by qualified medical professionals, with participants receiving counseling on preventive care and periodic health monitoring.
The program included cyber security and financial safety awareness sessions organized in collaboration with State Bank of India (SBI), focusing on protecting senior citizens from online fraud, phishing attempts, and financial scams through practical guidance on secure digital practices.
Dr. Babita Yadav, Senior Research Officer of the Ministry of AYUSH, delivered a lecture on healthy living, preventive healthcare, and traditional wellness systems including Yoga, balanced dietary habits, and Ayurvedic principles of Dinacharya for maintaining well-being in advanced age.
A Know Your Pension (KYP) and Digital Life Certificate (DLC) camp assisted pensioners with accessing records on the SAMPANN portal and submitting life certificates through Jeevan Pramaan using face authentication technology.
The event served as an interaction platform between senior pensioners and department officers, reflecting the Department's commitment to pensioner welfare and well-being.
