Dr. Vetri Kumar, Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Parvathy Hospital in Chennai, has become the first surgeon in South Asia to complete more than 300 total knee replacement surgeries using the Evolution® Medial‑Pivot Knee System within a single year, according to a MicroPort Orthopedics press release dated 24 July 2026. The Evolution® Medial‑Pivot system is patented to replicate the stability and biomechanics of the native knee by preserving physiologic medial stability while permitting natural rotational movement, which the release states improves function, range of motion and long‑term implant performance and is reflected in higher Forgotten Joint Scores. Dr. Vetri emphasized that modern knee replacement should restore each patient’s unique anatomy rather than apply a one‑size‑fits‑all approach, noting that nearly 60 million Indians suffer from osteoarthritis and many seek treatment after prolonged pain.
