The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully demonstrated multiple crucial defence technologies through three consecutive flight tests conducted on June 10 and 11, 2026. The tests showcased India's multi-layered Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) capability designed to address emerging missile threats, with interceptors successfully engaging their respective targets against long-range ballistic missiles.
A significant milestone was achieved with the maiden flight-test of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile-Medium Range (NASM-MR), demonstrating anti-ship capability at medium range. These successful tests have positioned India among an elite group of nations possessing BMD capability to engage up to Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles, representing a substantial advancement in the nation's defence preparedness.
The tests were witnessed by senior officials from both DRDO and the Defence Forces, with close monitoring by Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh, who applauded the combined efforts of DRDO and industry partners. Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh formally congratulated DRDO on successfully demonstrating these crucial technologies that bolster the nation's defence capabilities against different types of enemy threats.
