Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh has approved the transfer of DRDO-developed technologies for all conventional missile systems to the Indian defence industry for domestic production, marking a significant step toward achieving Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) in defence. This Transfer of Technology initiative is designed to promote greater participation of domestic industries in the defence ecosystem by enabling them to undertake indigenous production in accordance with applicable qualifications, certifications, and regulatory requirements.
The approval facilitates the successful transition of missile system development to industrial production, reflecting DRDO's continued efforts to leverage Indian industry capabilities for advanced defence system development and manufacture. The primary objectives include enhancing domestic manufacturing capabilities, strengthening the defence industrial base, and creating opportunities for Indian MSMEs and other technology partners to participate in the supply chain.
The initiative aims to enhance operational capability, reduce import dependence, and increase domestic value addition while supporting the growth of India's defence manufacturing sector. DRDO remains committed to working closely with the Indian industry to facilitate the transfer and absorption of advanced defence technologies, further strengthening the country's indigenous defence capabilities.
