Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) opened the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) field training and demonstration Centre at Burari plains in Delhi on May 06, 2026
The center was inaugurated by Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman, DRDO Dr Samir V Kamat
The center aims to enhance preparedness for radiological & nuclear exigencies
The facility comprises state-of-the-art facilities including dedicated radiological and nuclear test bed facility
Includes heavy ion research facility
Includes emergency medical response units
Includes real-time field response units
The center is part of upcoming CBRN Centre of Excellence under the Institute of Nuclear Medicine & Allied Sciences (INMAS)
Will train responders from Ministry of Defence
Will train responders from Ministry of Home Affairs
Will train responders from National Disaster Management Authority
Will train various other agencies involved in CBRN exigencies preparedness and crisis response
INMAS will prepare next generation of specialists through training and workshops
