Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan led the 12th International Day of Yoga celebrations at the University of Delhi's South Campus Ground in New Delhi on June 21, 2026. The event was attended by Secretary of School Education & Literacy Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of Higher Education Dr. Vineet Joshi, Vice Chancellor of University of Delhi Prof. Yogesh Singh, senior officials of the Ministry of Education, and members of the university community.

During the celebrations, Minister Pradhan stated that yoga serves as a powerful medium for achieving harmony among body, mind, and soul and plays an important role in promoting a healthy and balanced lifestyle. He emphasized that yoga continuously guides individuals toward physical well-being, mental peace, and holistic development. Pradhan credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts for establishing yoga as a global symbol of India's rich cultural heritage and healthy way of life, inspiring people worldwide toward health, balance, and well-being.

The Minister also highlighted India's growing stature in education, innovation, and entrepreneurship, emphasizing the role of the country's education ecosystem in nurturing future-ready talent and advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat. He specifically congratulated the University of Delhi on its continued improvement in global university rankings and commended the contributions of its students, faculty, and staff. Pradhan underscored the importance of integrating yoga into campus life as a means of promoting holistic well-being and fostering a healthy, balanced society.

The event featured a live telecast of the International Day of Yoga program led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which was screened during the celebrations. Students, faculty, yoga practitioners, and other attendees participated in yoga performances as part of the nationwide observance. Minister Pradhan also shared multiple social media posts emphasizing yoga's benefits for healthy aging, mental well-being, and as a foundation for human unity, urging citizens to make yoga a daily practice rather than limiting it to a single day.
