Regulatory and policy measures
The FATF, through its public document “High‑Risk Jurisdictions subject to a Call for Action – 19 June 2026”, reiterated that members and other jurisdictions should refer to the statement on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Iran adopted in February 2020, which remains in effect. Myanmar, which was added to the High‑Risk list in October 2022, continues to be listed as a jurisdiction subject to a Call for Action. FATF advised that enhanced due‑diligence measures be applied proportionate to the risk arising from Myanmar, while ensuring that flows of funds for humanitarian assistance, legitimate non‑profit organization activity, and remittances are not disrupted.
In the category of jurisdictions under Increased Monitoring, FATF confirmed the removal of Algeria and Namibia from the list. Conversely, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iraq were added to the Increased Monitoring list based on the FATF’s review as of 19 June 2026. The jurisdictions previously identified with strategic deficiencies and placed under Increased Monitoring include Algeria, Angola, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Haiti, Kenya, Kuwait, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Lebanon, Monaco, Namibia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, South Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, Vietnam, Virgin Islands (UK) and Yemen.
FATF plenary continues to release two key documents: “High‑Risk jurisdictions subject to a Call for Action” and “Jurisdictions under Increased Monitoring”, which outline strategic AML/CFT deficiencies and the collaborative action plans developed with the listed jurisdictions. The FATF emphasized that its advice does not preclude regulated entities from engaging in legitimate trade and business transactions with these countries.

Overall, the FATF’s June 2026 updates maintain Myanmar’s High‑Risk status, adjust the Increased Monitoring roster by removing Algeria and Namibia and adding Bosnia‑Herzegovina and Iraq, and provide guidance to ensure that enhanced due‑diligence does not impede legitimate humanitarian and remittance flows.
