The Department of Fisheries and Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, celebrated the International Day of Yoga 2026 on June 21, 2026, at Krishi Bhawan in New Delhi. The event was attended by Shri George Kurian, Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, along with Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi (Secretary, Department of Fisheries) and Shri Naresh Pal Gangwar (Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying), and senior officers from both departments.
The yoga session began with a live telecast of the Prime Minister's address to the nation on the occasion of International Day of Yoga 2026, followed by Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) practice under the guidance of certified Yoga Instructors. Officers and staff members attended the address and reaffirmed their commitment to adopting Yoga as part of their daily routine for holistic health and well-being.
The program was organized with the objective of promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, stress management, and healthy lifestyle among government employees. Senior officers highlighted Yoga's significance as India's invaluable gift to the world, emphasizing its role in fostering harmony between mind and body and contributing to holistic health and wellness. Participants were encouraged to incorporate Yoga into their daily routines for improved productivity and overall well-being. The celebration concluded with the National Anthem.
