Conversion Methodology and Notes
- The RBI reference rate for the end‑of‑period day is used to convert INR values to USD. Consequently, the AUC in USD is reported as 96.2219 mn for July 15 and 95.3706 mn for July 31.
- The report follows the Common Industry Classification (CIC) adopted by BSE and NSE from 21 March 2022, classifying roughly 4,800 issuers into 22 sectors. Any FPI investment outside these issuers is grouped under ‘Others’.
- Footnotes clarify the inclusion dates for various debt‑related segments and the conversion approach, ensuring consistency with NSDL’s online data.
Observations
- FPIs continued to hold a substantial AUC in Indian markets, with Financial Services alone accounting for over 27 % of total AUC.
- Net investment showed a marginal decline in the second half of July, suggesting a short‑term pause in fresh inflows.
- Concentration in the ‘Others’ debt segment is notable, with the top ten holders representing roughly 90 % of the category’s AUC.
- The use of end‑of‑period RBI rates for USD conversion provides a uniform basis for cross‑period comparison.
