The government announced the Biopharma Shakti Scheme with an outlay of ₹10,000 crore over five years to boost the domestic biopharma sector.
The scheme aims to strengthen the CDSCO, create 1000 clinical trial sites, and foster R&D to reduce import dependence in biologics and biosimilars.
It seeks to build a globally competitive ecosystem, making India a hub for biologics and biosimilars, enhancing affordability and global participation.
