Haryana's 77th Van Mahotsav Celebrations at Manesar

Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav graced Haryana's 77th Van Mahotsav celebrations at Manesar, accompanied by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, State Minister for Environment and Forests Rao Narbir Singh, public representatives, and senior state government officials. The event took place on August 7, 2026.

Minister Yadav congratulated the Haryana government for its efforts to transform Gurugram into both a millennium city and a green city. He highlighted that Haryana is actively working on the Centre's recommendations to protect the Aravallis and prevent air pollution. Yadav noted that he had recently reviewed the air quality situation in Haryana and was pleased that the state government had taken cognizance of his recommendations, which included implementing solid waste management rules in housing societies, requiring industries to install Online Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (OCEMS) and Air Pollution Control Devices (APCDs), implementing smart traffic management, and undertaking greening activities.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini emphasized that Van Mahotsav represents more than just a tree-planting program—it is an opportunity to repay our debt to nature. He announced that under the Prime Minister's guiding mantra of planting 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam', the state has set a target of planting 1.4 crore trees this year with participation from various stakeholders. A major highlight of this year's celebrations was the simultaneous organization of district-level Van Mahotsav programs across all districts of Haryana, attended by state ministers, Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, chairpersons of boards and corporations, deputy commissioners, and other public representatives.

During the event, dignitaries planted saplings, administered the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' pledge, and released two publications: 'Haryana Forest News' and 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam'. Winners of quiz, painting, and other competitions held on the theme of 'Swachh Haryana, Harit Haryana' were awarded.
