Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare Shri J.P. Nadda chaired a review meeting on August 31, 2026 to assess the progress of the Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC) in Najafgarh. The meeting focused on reviewing implementation of initiatives aimed at strengthening patient care, infrastructure, manpower, academic activities and digital health systems at the Centre.
Shri Nadda directed all concerned agencies and institutions to ensure timely completion of ongoing works and coordinated implementation of planned interventions, emphasizing close monitoring of deliverables, timely availability of manpower and equipment, and continued focus on quality patient care and medical training. This review followed up on the previous meeting held on April 13, 2026.
The Centre's OPD and Emergency services are fully operational, along with the Anti-Rabies Vaccination Centre, Anti-Snake Venom Centre and other supporting facilities including Jan Aushadhi Kendra, CSSD, laboratory and ambulance services. The Minor Operation Theatre is also functional. In August 2026, RHTC recorded approximately 47,000 OPD consultations and 9,000 emergency attendances on a monthly basis, besides conducting 221 minor procedures.
RHTC Najafgarh has been onboarded onto MedLeapR, enabling electronic patient records, and onto PM-JAY under Ayushman Bharat, facilitating access to services for eligible beneficiaries. The centre is progressing towards NQAS certification of its UPHCs and development of Model PHCs. TB symptom screening has been integrated into routine OPD and PHC interactions under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
The Centre is collaborating with other Central Government institutions including Safdarjung Hospital, ABVIMS, Dr. RML Hospital and NIMR for strengthening clinical manpower, training, digital systems, procurement and research. RHTC has also joined the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative.

Punya Salila Srastava; Director General of Health Services, Government of India, Dr. Loveneesh G Krishna; Joint Secretaries Shri Saurabh Jain, Dr. Manashvi Kumar & G.S. Chitra along with Director, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital Dr. Kavita Rani Sharma; Director, RHTC Najafgarh Dr. B K Kundu; and other senior officers of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
