The International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) in Manesar celebrated its 20th anniversary with a high-profile event attended by senior government officials and industry leaders. The event featured Union Cabinet Minister of Heavy Industry and Steel Shri H. D. Kumarswamy, Minister of State for Heavy Industry and Steel Shri Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma, and Additional Secretary Dr. Hanif Qureshi, along with officials from multiple ministries including MoRTH, MoA&FW, MEITY, MoP, MNRE, CAQM, BEE, and BIS, as well as past presidents of SIAM and ACMA.
A key component of the celebration was an industry dialogue on the PM e-Drive scheme, described as a flagship initiative envisioned under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership to accelerate India's transition toward clean, sustainable, and self-reliant mobility. The event also marked the inauguration of ICAT's indigenous Agri Machinery Test Facility, a first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at supporting farmers by ensuring reliable, certified equipment for agricultural modernization. This expansion positions ICAT as a multi-sectoral testing and certification hub bridging automotive and agricultural technologies.
Dignitaries emphasized that ICAT's two-decade journey has established it as a pillar of India's automotive ecosystem, contributing to innovation, safety, and sustainability. The celebration acknowledged contributions from the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Ministry of Transport, nodal ministries, CMVR test agencies, suppliers, collaborators, partners, consultants, and former ICAT leadership.
