IEEMA partnered with EDF France to organise a two‑day workshop on 23 September 2026 in Mumbai, aimed at giving Indian electrical and allied equipment manufacturers insight into the expanding business potential within France’s nuclear energy programme and EDF’s global supply chain.

Objectives and Context

The event was positioned as a response to renewed momentum in the global nuclear sector, which the organisers said creates significant opportunities for qualified Indian suppliers. Participants were briefed on EDF’s procurement ecosystem, supplier pre‑qualification and qualification requirements, nuclear safety standards, applicable codes, and the avenues through which Indian firms can enter the nuclear supply chain.

  • Laurent‑Olivier Coudeyre, Head of Resources & Supply Chain Export, International Nuclear Directorate, EDF, presented on the European Pressurised Reactor (EPR), outlined supply‑chain opportunities, and detailed the pre‑qualification and qualification criteria for suppliers.
  • Xavier Owen, Supply Chain Development & Localisation Lead, EDF – Développement Nucléaire International, discussed the bill of quantities (BoQs) and emphasized that Indian EPR projects represent a large scope of opportunities. He stated, “We will be procuring large electrical equipment for our projects in India,” and listed the types of equipment EDF typically purchases: high‑voltage (HV) switchboards, low‑voltage (LV) switchboards, HV/LV transformers, HV/LV/MV power cables, among others.
  • Siddharth Bhutoria, President‑Elect of IEEMA, highlighted the strategic importance of nuclear energy for India’s future energy mix, noting that small nuclear reactors and increased nuclear capacity will be needed as India seeks to raise the share of electricity in its overall energy consumption.
  • Hartek Singh, Vice President of IEEMA and Chairman of Elecrama 2027, underscored that Indian manufacturers are ready to compete globally, stressing the association’s role in helping members understand international RFQs and standards.

Participation and B2B Interaction

The workshop enabled IEEMA members to interact directly with EDF representatives, including teams from Arabelle Solutions, EDF Power Solutions / EDF Renewables, and EDF Nuclear Engineering India (ENEI). Attendees participated in B2B meetings where they could present their capabilities, product portfolios, and explore potential collaboration areas.
