Market Context

Ninety‑two percent of companies intend to raise AI spending over the next three years, according to McKinsey & Company, yet merely one percent of leaders describe their organisations as mature on the AI deployment spectrum, where AI is fully embedded in workflows and drives substantial business outcomes. Gartner further forecasts that by 2028, thirty‑three percent of enterprise software applications will feature Agentic AI, a rise from less than one percent in 2024, underscoring a rapid shift toward agentic capabilities in enterprise tools.

Programme Overview

To bridge the emerging engineering gap—ensuring AI systems remain reliable, evaluated, secure, and observable in production—iHUB DivyaSampark, IIT Roorkee has introduced a six‑month live‑online Post Graduate Certificate in Agentic and Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) Systems for AI Engineering. The programme targets technology professionals with intermediate programming experience who already develop software, manage codebases, or lead technology teams and now require deeper engineering expertise as enterprises move beyond proof‑of‑concept AI.

Curriculum Highlights

The curriculum spans six pillars and thirteen modules, emphasizing engineering judgement alongside implementation. It examines when simple prompting suffices, when RAG engineering is preferable, the appropriate use of fine‑tuning, and when multi‑agent systems add unnecessary complexity. Reliability is woven throughout, covering evaluation with golden datasets and LLM‑as‑judge methods, RAG failure analysis, human‑in‑the‑loop workflows featuring approval gates and audit trails, and defenses against prompt injection. A dedicated module addresses AI security and governance, including retrieval poisoning, tool abuse, guardrails, and compliance with GDPR and India’s DPDP framework. Participants complete six module‑end projects and a capstone that integrates RAG, agent orchestration, model adaptation, deployment, and monitoring into a production‑grade system.

Delivery and Faculty

Approximately twelve hours of live online masterclasses are delivered by IIT faculty, while weekly live sessions are led by industry experts and programme leaders. The programme is offered by iHUB DivyaSampark, a Technology Innovation Hub established under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber‑Physical Systems (NM‑ICPS), initiated by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Masterclasses feature faculty from IITs and other premier institutions.

Eligibility and Commitment

The six‑month programme demands roughly eight to ten hours per week, delivered 100% live online through two live sessions each week, supplemented by module‑end projects and a final capstone. Participants must achieve a minimum overall score of fifty percent, score at least fifty percent in the capstone, and maintain at least fifty percent attendance to earn an e‑Certificate of Completion issued by iHUB DivyaSampark, IIT Roorkee. Successful graduates are also eligible for an optional two‑day campus immersion at IIT Roorkee’s Noida campus.

Commencement and Contact

The next cohort begins on 22 December 2026. For further information, interested candidates may contact ihubiitroorkee.certificates@emeritus.org. (Disclaimer: this press release is provided under an arrangement with NRDPL; PTI assumes no editorial responsibility.)
