Conference Overview

On 16 June 2026 the International Conference on Business Management (ICBM 2026) concluded after three days at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur. The event hosted over 80 researchers, academicians and industry practitioners from India and abroad, delivering more than 60 research presentations across 11 thematic tracks and focusing on four transformative themes: innovation, digital transformation, resilience and artificial intelligence.

Keynote Sessions

The valedictory day featured keynote addresses by Prof. Satish Nambisan (Western Reserve University, USA), who highlighted the limits of traditional governance frameworks for AI and advocated for anticipatory governance, architectural flexibility and embedded governability. Prof. Venkatesh “Venky” Shankar (Southern Methodist University, USA) presented a futuristic view on humanoid systems, multimodal assistants and AI‑enabled customer operations, outlining scenarios for 2030 and stressing India’s opportunity to lead through digital public infrastructure, financial innovation, industrial transformation and public‑sector modernization. Prof. K. Sivakumar (Lehigh University, USA) encouraged the use of AI as a productivity and research tool, demonstrating platforms such as Gemini, NotebookLM, AI Studio and Perplexity. Prof. Anand Kumar Jaiswal (IIM Ahmedabad) discussed AI’s transformative impact on marketing, product recommendation, pricing and customer engagement, and showcased AI‑driven healthcare innovations like NIRAMAI’s breast‑cancer screening solution. Prof. Frank T. Piller (RWTH Aachen University, Germany) explained the Double Diamond Model of innovation and stressed the need for a digital mindset and open‑innovation culture, noting how AI expands both problem‑space and solution‑space exploration.

Academic and Institutional Participation

The conference also included remarks from Prof. Neeraj Dwivedi, Director of IIM Kashipur, Padma Shri Prof. Anil Gupta (Distinguished Retired Professor, IIM Ahmedabad), Prof. Ankur Sinha (IIM Ahmedabad), Prof. S. P. Raj (Syracuse University, USA), Prof. Somnath Chakrabarti, Prof. Utkarsh, Prof. Devendra Kumar Pathak and Prof. Jimut Bahan Chakrabarty of IIM Kashipur. Their involvement enriched the scholarly dialogue and facilitated exchanges among participants from diverse academic and professional backgrounds.

Themes and Outcomes

Throughout the three‑day programme, participants examined the intersection of technology, management, sustainability, innovation and business transformation. The research presentations and discussions provided a platform for knowledge exchange and collaborative learning, reinforcing IIM Kashipur’s commitment to global academic engagement and to research that addresses contemporary business and societal challenges, aligned with the national aspiration of “Viksit Bharat 2047”.
