IIM Mumbai Launches Executive MBA in Wealth Management

On July 15 2026, the Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) formally inaugurated a one‑year Executive MBA programme dedicated to Wealth Management, with the first classes commencing on July 18 2026. The programme is structured as a non‑residential weekend format spanning 52 weekends, allowing working professionals in the financial services industry to attend without leaving their jobs.

The curriculum covers portfolio management, risk assessment, taxation, estate planning and behavioural finance. Instruction will be delivered by IIM Mumbai faculty, supplemented by practitioner‑led sessions featuring industry experts from Neo Wealth and Asset Management as well as other organisations.

The launch is the result of a collaboration between IIM Mumbai and Neo Wealth and Asset Management, which also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly create and digitally disseminate wealth‑management content, including masterclasses, case studies, research publications and industry perspectives.

Neo Wealth and Asset Management, headquartered in Mumbai with additional offices in Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Goa, Jaipur and the United States, manages approximately ₹1,30,000 crore in total client assets (both Assets Under Advice and Assets Under Management) as of 30 June 2026. The firm employs more than 850 professionals and offers services across wealth management, asset management, private markets, fixed income, global investments, insurance and estate planning.

IIM Mumbai, originally established in 1963 as the National Institute of Industrial Engineering with assistance from the United Nations Development Programme and the International Labour Organization, is ranked sixth among Indian management institutes in the National Institutional Ranking Framework 2025. The institute provides education across operations, supply chain, sustainability, analytics, finance and general management, emphasizing industry relevance and executive education.

In remarks, Director Prof Manoj Kumar Tiwary said the wealth‑management industry is becoming increasingly important within India’s financial ecosystem, creating a need for professionals with strong conceptual foundations and practical understanding. He noted that the new programme reflects IIM Mumbai’s commitment to developing future‑ready leaders through industry‑aligned education.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by IIM Mumbai leadership, faculty members, industry representatives and participants from the inaugural cohort, with Shajikumar Devakar addressing the gathering on emerging trends and the importance of continuous professional development in financial services.
