Admission Announcement
IIT Delhi’s Continuing Education Programme (CEP), operating under the Bharti School of Telecommunication Technology and Management, has opened admissions for the ninth batch of its six‑month online Certification in Quantum Computing & Machine Learning. The programme is designed to equip professionals with expertise in quantum algorithms, machine‑learning techniques, Qiskit, and emerging quantum‑enabled applications.
Programme Structure and Delivery
The fully online curriculum comprises seven structured modules covering Quantum Mechanics, Quantum Algorithms, Classical Machine Learning, Quantum Fourier Transform, Quantum Machine Learning, Product Analytics, and related areas. Learners will complete more than 130 hours of synchronous and asynchronous learning, attend live sessions led by IIT Delhi faculty and industry experts, and receive practical exposure to tools such as Qiskit. A one‑day immersion at the IIT Delhi campus is included to facilitate interaction with faculty and peers. Eligibility is open to candidates holding a BTech/BE, BCA, MCA, BSc in any discipline, or BA/MA in Mathematics.
Career Outcomes
On successful completion, participants may pursue roles such as Quantum Software Developer, Quantum Machine Learning Engineer, Quantum Data Scientist, or Quantum Consultant, among others.
Market Context
Industry estimates value the quantum computing market at approximately USD 3.2 billion in 2025 and project it to reach USD 20.2 billion by 2030, implying a compound annual growth rate of 41.8 percent. Advances in quantum hardware, broader access via cloud platforms, and sustained public and private investment are cited as drivers of this expansion.
National Policy Support
India’s National Quantum Mission, supported by an allocation of Rs 6,003.65 crore for the period 2023‑24 to 2030‑31, aims to advance indigenous research, reinforce national security, encourage industry innovation, and position India as a significant contributor to the global quantum ecosystem.
Institutional Credentials
IIT Delhi, established as a College of Engineering in 1961 and declared an Institution of National Importance under the Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963, is consistently ranked among India’s top higher‑education institutions—4th overall, 2nd in Engineering, and 3rd in Research in the NIRF 2025 rankings. The Department of Management Studies is ranked 4th among management institutions nationally.
Quote from Faculty
Professor Abhishek Dixit, Associate Professor at IIT Delhi, remarked that quantum computing is transitioning from scientific exploration to practical application, creating demand for professionals who can bridge advanced theory with real‑world problem solving. He emphasized that the programme provides the conceptual depth, computational exposure, and project experience needed to understand quantum systems, apply machine‑learning methods, and contribute meaningfully to emerging technology‑led industries.
