India Achieves 50% Non-Fossil Power Capacity Ahead of Target

India achieved 50% non-fossil fuel power capacity in June 2025, five years ahead of its NDC target, with 242.78 GW of non-fossil capacity out of a 484.82 GW total.
The government has implemented multiple initiatives to accelerate renewable energy, including 100% FDI, transmission waivers, and schemes for solar, wind, and green hydrogen.
Key measures include a 50 GW annual RE bidding trajectory, a VGF scheme for 30 GWh of battery storage, and a 100 GW nuclear power target by 2047.
