India has commissioned 8,000 tonnes per annum of green hydrogen production capacity as of February 2026, with a target to reach 5 million metric tonnes annually by 2030 under the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
Funding allocation and utilization data shows an increase from ₹0.11 crore in FY2023-24 to ₹203.75 crore in FY2025-26, reflecting increased outlays for green hydrogen development.
Discovered costs of green hydrogen through competitive bidding are ₹397 per kg for Indian Oil and ₹387 per kg for BPCL and HPCL, with renewables accounting for 50-70% of production costs.
