The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy announced the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo (BRE Summit & Expo) 2026 will be held from November 2-5, 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Union Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi confirmed that the event will uniquely combine three major renewable energy gatherings under one platform: the BRE Summit & Expo 2026 itself, the 9th Session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly, and the 4th International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH).
The Prime Minister has agreed to inaugurate the summit, reflecting India's commitment to renewable energy as a key pillar of Viksit Bharat and its contribution to global sustainable development. The event aims to bring together the entire renewable energy value chain, including developers, technology companies, manufacturers, battery storage firms, green hydrogen pioneers, financial institutions, international organizations, and investors.
India's renewable energy credentials are demonstrated by several key metrics: the country will soon cross the landmark of 300 GW of installed non-fossil fuel capacity, and the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is expected to cross 50 lakh beneficiary households in the coming weeks. The summit has extended invitations to 34 countries directly, while the International Solar Alliance has invited 128 countries for its assembly session.
Minister of State Shri Shripad Yesso Naik highlighted regional contributions to India's renewable transition, noting Rajasthan's solar resources, Gujarat's development of the world's largest hybrid renewable energy park at Khavda, and several other states advancing hydropower, floating solar, biomass, and decentralized renewable energy.
Secretary Shri Santosh Kumar Sarangi outlined India's renewable energy transformation built on four pillars: policy stability, market creation, ecosystem development, and transmission infrastructure. The next phase will focus on strengthening system capabilities through hybrid renewable energy projects, battery energy storage systems, floating solar, agrivoltaics, and the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
The summit logo 'URJHA Chakra' was unveiled during the curtain raiser, along with the official digital portal and mobile application for the event. The ministry positions this summit as a significant milestone in India's engagement with the global renewable energy community, designed to foster new partnerships, catalyze investments, promote innovation, and strengthen international cooperation in the sector.
