India-linked supertanker Sarv Shakti, carrying 45,000 tons of LPG, made its first transit through the Strait of Hormuz since the U.S. blockade.
The LPG cargo, bought by state-run Indian Oil Corp., aims to ease India’s acute fuel shortage amid falling imports and panic buying.
Oil Minister Hardeep Puri said domestic LPG production rose 60% to 54,000 tons, yet daily demand of 80,000 tons still exceeds supply.
Continued volatility in Hormuz remains a key risk to India’s energy security and inflation targets despite the temporary reprieve.
