India-Moldova Business Forum Addresses Bilateral Trade Opportunities
President of India Droupadi Murmu and President of Moldova Maia Sandu jointly addressed the India-Moldova Business Forum in Chișinău on July 20, 2026. The forum aimed to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries, which have maintained warm and friendly relations since establishing diplomatic ties in 1992, based on mutual respect, democratic values, and shared commitment to peace and development.
President Murmu emphasized India's position as one of the fastest-growing major economies, driven by entrepreneurship, digital transformation, manufacturing excellence, and a young, skilled workforce as it advances toward its Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. She highlighted Moldova's reform-oriented outlook, strategic location, talented human capital, and growing integration with European markets as attractive factors for Indian businesses.
Sectoral Collaboration Opportunities
The President identified multiple sectors with significant collaboration potential, including digital technologies, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, fin-tech, digital public infrastructure, infrastructure development, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, agriculture, food processing, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and healthcare. Specifically, Indian companies expressed interest in participating in Moldova's renewable energy development projects, particularly in solar energy, battery storage, smart grids, green hydrogen, and other clean technologies.
Mutual Investment Invitations
India offered good business opportunities to Moldovan companies for trade and investment, committing to foster a transparent, predictable, and investor-friendly business environment. President Murmu personally invited Moldovan businesses to explore opportunities in India while simultaneously urging Indian businesses to explore opportunities in Moldova, noting that their enterprise, vision, and commitment would be instrumental in building enduring economic partnerships.
The business forum featured participation from leading business representatives from both countries across various sectors including agriculture and food processing, information technology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, renewable energy, education, logistics, and digital technologies. The interactions were expected to lay the foundation for new partnerships and innovative collaborations, potentially elevating economic cooperation between India and Moldova to new heights.
