India's fisheries production: 168 lakh tonnes (more than doubled over past decade)
Seafood exports: over ₹73,000 crore (more than doubled over past decade)

Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) approved development of Smart and Integrated Fishing Harbour at Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh
Project outlay: ₹72.42 crore
Central assistance: ₹43.45 crore
Harbour capacity: berthing facilities for about 423 vessels
Annual landing target: 74,448 tonnes
Employment generation: approximately 12,345 people
Benefits distributed under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojana (PMMKSSY), Kisan Credit Cards (KCC), and other initiatives

Stakeholder challenges identified: disease management needs, disease-resilient broodstock requirements, rising input costs (particularly fish meal), limited access to quality seed and quarantine facilities
Logistics and infrastructure gaps: improved transportation needs, cold chain requirements, air cargo support needs, satellite processing facilities for inland regions
Additional needs: adoption of new technologies, market diversification, value-added product development, strengthening Coldwater and high-value species segments (such as trout)
Other concerns: juvenile fishing issues, sustainable practices promotion, reducing dependence on raw produce exports
