The Government of India announced integrated development of 500 reservoirs and Amrit Sarovars for fisheries and aquaculture in the Union Budget 2026-27.
In Maharashtra's Konkan region, 34 reservoirs have been selected, and 198 cold chain units were approved under PMMSY across Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts.
The Department of Fisheries is promoting 12 Fish Farmer Producer Organizations (FFPOs) in Konkan and supporting startups and women-led groups for fisheries development.
A plan of action with milestones has been formulated for time-bound implementation of the budget announcement.
