The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, in collaboration with IndiGo, organized a Digital Detox Campaign on October 12, 2026, which was celebrated as Philately Day during the National Postal Week (October 9-15). The initiative aimed to encourage travelers to take a break from digital devices and reconnect with loved ones through handwritten letter writing.
As part of the campaign, passengers traveling on selected IndiGo flights were presented with specially designed Digital Detox kits containing postcards during their journey. The campaign connected passengers traveling across six major Indian cities: Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai. Participants posted their letters in specially placed India Post Letter Boxes at arrival airports for onward delivery. The postcards featured specially designed illustrations showcasing iconic city landmarks from all the participating cities.
The campaign highlighted the importance of digital detox in reducing screen time, fostering mindfulness, and strengthening human connections. Passengers enthusiastically participated in the experience, with one passenger noting the emotional significance of handwritten communication in an era of digital notifications. India Post reaffirmed its commitment to bringing people closer through meaningful communication and emphasized the timeless charm of handwritten letters that carry "a little piece of history, culture and connection."
