Union Minister for Communications and DoNER, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, laid the foundation stone for India's 7th Postal Training Centre in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, marking a significant expansion of the Department of Posts' training infrastructure. The new national-level training facility will serve postal employees from Madhya Pradesh and neighboring states, eliminating the need for personnel to travel nearly 600 kilometers for training.
The Shivpuri location was strategically chosen due to its central location in the heart of India and connectivity advantages as Madhya Pradesh is the second-largest state by area. The center will focus on equipping postal workforce with modern skills and training in emerging technologies, evolving with changing times to meet the demands of modern postal operations and service delivery.
This expansion adds to the existing network of six Postal Training Centres located at Saharanpur, Vadodara, Mysuru, Guwahati, Madurai, and Darbhanga, which collectively train approximately 2,000 personnel annually. The new center reflects the Department of Posts' commitment to strengthening learning and capacity building through modern training facilities.
Concurrently, Minister Scindia inaugurated the renovated Shivpuri Head Post Office, which has been modernized according to design guidelines from the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi. The upgraded facility features Jan Sewa Connect, a multi-purpose citizen facilitation center that provides multiple Department of Posts services at a single location. The modernization focuses on enhanced citizen convenience, accessibility, and improved service experience with modern service counters, improved customer amenities, and barrier-free access. Services offered include Speed Post, Savings Bank, Postal Life Insurance, Aadhaar services, parcels, and other postal and financial services.
This initiative follows the recent inauguration of 14 Jan Sewa Connect Post Offices across the country, advancing the Department's vision of accessible, modern, and citizen-centric postal services. The event was attended by several dignitaries including Shri Pradyuman Singh Tomar (Minister for Energy, Government of Madhya Pradesh), multiple MLAs, district officials, and senior Department of Posts officials including Shri S.F.H. Rizvi (Member, Human Resource Development, Postal Services Board) and Shri Vineet Mathur (Chief Postmaster General, Madhya Pradesh Circle).
