The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways announced multiple green initiatives, including a Green Tug Transition Programme and Onshore Power Supply systems, as part of Maritime India Vision 2030.
Three major ports—Deendayal, Paradip, and V.O. Chidambaranar—have been designated as Green Hydrogen Hubs, and 180 port development projects were approved in the last two years.
The Ministry has set 2030 targets including >60% renewable energy use, 50% port equipment electrification, and 30% reduction in CO2 emissions per cargo ton.
