The Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries and the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), organised a two-day National Workshop on Seafood Exports in Visakhapatnam on 5–6 June 2026.

Frozen shrimp continues to be India's leading seafood export item.
Government efforts under PMMSY and PMKSSY 2.0 aim to strengthen export-oriented fisheries infrastructure.
The workshop explored market access opportunities arising from India's Free Trade Agreements covering 38 countries.
Benefits were distributed to eligible beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojana (PMKSSY) and Kisan Credit Card (KCC).
Technical sessions covered traceability systems, sustainable certification, value addition, export promotion, deep-sea fisheries, and potential Production Linked Incentive (PLI) framework.
Discussions focused on high-value deep-sea resources within India's Exclusive Economic Zone, particularly in Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.
