India's 2025-26 sugar output reached 27.39 million tonnes as of April 15, up 8% YoY and exceeding last season’s total.
Maharashtra and Karnataka drove growth, with production rising 23% to 9.92 MT and 17% to 4.71 MT respectively.
Uttar Pradesh, the second‑largest producer, slipped 2% to 8.92 MT, while 520 of 541 mills have shut, leaving 21 operating.
Average sugar recovery improved to 9.55% from 9.37% last year, supporting stable prices and ample supply through the near‑term.
