Team India delivered a strong performance at the Global Skills Challenge Australia 2026, winning 5 medals including 3 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze. The competition, held from 23-29 June 2026, brought together nearly 600 competitors, experts, translators, and officials representing 16 WorldSkills member nations.
Gold medal winners included Pavan Bhadravati Suresha from Karnataka in Additive Manufacturing (with Japan taking silver), Mausam Kumar Giri from Bihar in Cloud Computing (Japan silver, Singapore bronze), and Vishnupriya Sunil from Delhi in Health and Social Care (Australia silver). Silver medal was won by Harsh Ramesh Pawar from Maharashtra in 3D Digital Game Art, and bronze by Muskan from Haryana in Painting and Decorating.
The 30-member Indian contingent comprised 15 competitors and 15 experts representing the country across 15 skill categories: 3D Digital Game Art, Additive Manufacturing, Automobile Technology, Beauty Therapy, Bricklaying, Cloud Computing, Floristry, Graphic Design Technology, Hairdressing, Health and Social Care, Industrial Mechanics, Painting and Decorating, Restaurant Service, Wall and Floor Tiling, and Web Technologies.
Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Minister of State for Education, congratulated Team India, stating that the achievement is 'a proud moment for the nation and a testament to the talent, determination and hard work of our Skill Champions, experts, mentors and industry partners.' The competition served as valuable preparation for the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai later this year, providing exposure to global standards and international competition conditions using the Competition Information System (CIS) assessment framework.
