The Indian Air Force successfully hosted the second edition of Exercise Tarang Shakti 2026 at Air Force Station Jodhpur from 26 September to 12 October 2026. The multinational air exercise, conducted under the theme 'Power in Partnership, Strength in Self-Reliance', involved seven Friendly Foreign Countries (Australia, Bangladesh, France, Germany, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, and United States of America) along with 32 observer nations, reflecting growing international interest in India's operational capabilities and defense ecosystem.
The exercise focused on complex joint missions, exchange of operational experience, and enhanced interoperability among participating air forces. It incorporated diverse combat, transport, surveillance, and air-to-air refuelling capabilities, enabling aircrew, mission planners, and support personnel to gain insights into different operational philosophies and procedures. The exercise built upon the success of its inaugural edition in 2024 and was contextualized by reference to Operation Sindoor, which demonstrated the Indian Air Force's ability to execute precise, calibrated operations for national security objectives.
A key highlight was the participation of indigenous platforms including the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas and Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Prachand, underscoring India's progress in developing advanced aerospace capabilities through indigenous design, engineering, and manufacturing. The exercise included industrial tours exposing participating contingents to India's expanding aerospace and defense manufacturing ecosystem, along with professional engagements, yoga sessions, heritage visits, and cultural interactions.
The Open Day event drew more than 20,000 visitors, offering the public an opportunity to witness Indian Air Force aircraft and operational capabilities. The exercise coincided with the 94th Anniversary of the Indian Air Force, highlighting the force's evolution into a modern, multi-dimensional aerospace power with expanding operational reach and advanced platforms. The International Night served as a celebration of diverse cultures represented by participating nations, strengthening camaraderie beyond the operational environment.
