The Indian Defence Service of Engineers (IDSE) under Military Engineer Services (MES), Ministry of Defence celebrated their 77th Raising Day on September 17, 2026, with a day-long conference in New Delhi. The event was themed 'Ethics, Accountability and Excellence towards achieving the aim of Viksit Bharat @ 2047' and was attended by dignitaries from various departments and ministries including Ministry of Railways, Central Vigilance Commission, Defence Accounts Department, National Highway Authority, and Public Sector Undertakings.

Engineer in Chief of MES, Lt Gen Vikas Rohella, addressed the gathering and highlighted steps taken to strengthen ethics and accountability within MES, specifically mentioning the introduction of the Electronic Measurement Book. He emphasized that all stages of public procurement and discretion exercised must be qualified with ethical principles.

The entire fraternity of MES was present at the event, including senior officers of Corps of Engineers and representatives of various cadre associations such as Surveyor, Architects, Barrack and Stores, and Administration. The celebration marked the 77th anniversary of the service's establishment under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative.
