Labour scarcity, rising wages and the high cost of manual weeding—often exceeding the value of the crop—have compounded the difficulty of protecting fields with traditional, outdated tools.
The farmer stresses that crop failure not only means loss of harvest but also loss of loans, family security and, in many cases, leads to farmer suicides. He acknowledges the crop‑protection industry for developing new solutions and providing guidance on correct dosage and protective equipment, yet he calls for fair pricing, high product quality, and protection against substandard inputs.
He welcomes the Government’s efforts to modernise obsolete pesticide and seed regulations and advocates for science‑based rules that allow safe, effective technologies to reach farmers quickly, accompanied by proper training on responsible use.
