Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Shri Bhupender Yadav presided over the Convocation Ceremony of the 2024 Batch Indian Forest Service probationers at the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy in Dehradun on August 1, 2026. The ceremony marked the completion of a 20-month training program for 111 officers, including 109 Indian Forest Service probationers and two officer trainees from Bhutan.
Ms. Pratiksha Nanasaheb Kale of the Rajasthan Cadre emerged as the batch topper, with 75 officers securing more than 75% marks and receiving Honours Diplomas. The training program placed special emphasis on forestry, wildlife management, environmental governance, advanced technologies, and leadership development, with 45% of the total training period devoted to field exercises, study tours, and adventure activities across diverse ecological regions of India.
In his address, Minister Yadav emphasized that these officers will lead the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and face major challenges including climate change, biodiversity loss, and desertification. He stressed the need for innovation, modern technology, and people's participation, specifically mentioning the use of artificial intelligence for data collection, analysis, and developing practical solutions with human sensitivity. The Minister highlighted that ethics and efficiency are the strongest foundations of successful public service, urging officers to become effective leaders who bring positive transformation to society.
Director Dr. Rajendra Prasad Khajuria reported that the institution has trained all Indian Forest Service officers of independent India since 1938, along with 369 forest officers from 14 friendly countries. The revised curriculum aligned with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision included specialized elective courses, independent research, and practical exercises related to forest management and wildlife conservation with guidance from eminent experts.
